Talking Art On NPR with City Lights 'Speaking of the Arts': Sachi Rome

Sachi Rome is a multi-disciplinary visual artist in Atlanta, specializing in painting and mural work. She also creates prints, mixed media and sculptures. For Rome, art-making addresses more than just her creative impulses; it’s an act of resistance. She feels it helps to “restore the spirit and emotions of generations of people who’ve been systematically oppressed.” Rome draws inspiration from books, especially the writing of Octavia Butler, and an instinct toward world-building that informs the storytelling aspects of her work.
