FRIDAY
Catch Atlanta Braves organist Kaminski in an entirely different kind of venue as he brings his quartet to All Saints’ Episcopal Church as part of the Jazz at All Saints’ series. In addition to his duties behind the keyboard at Truist Park, he’s a recording artist, a teacher and an entertaining presence on social media, where he shares some very groovy vinyl finds.
Spalding Nix Fine Art spotlights four artists exploring themes akin to an echo. See Caroline Bullock’s imagined landscapes in This Place is a Dream and Sachi Rome’s abstract works that imagine in-between spaces in Liminal Space. Lithomancy offers Lizzy Storm’s earth pigment works on paper, reflecting on the traces of human intervention in the environment. Blair Hobbs’ narrative mixed media collages, Birthday Cake For Flannery, celebrate the life and work of late Georgia author Flannery O’Connor, whose 100th birthday would be March 25. The show opens with two receptions this weekend: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 14 and noon to 4 p.m. March 15.
Theatrical Outfit’s new series evolved from its previous Made in Atlanta series, which for several years sought to spotlight local Atlanta playwrights. Artistic Director Matt Torney and Associate Artistic Director Addae Moon used their experience producing and directing their own works to inform the project. This weekend, you can see all four plays. On stage Friday is Bridget McCarthy’s one-woman show Fat Juliet (which also runs at 7:30 p.m. Sunday); Saturday features Steve Yockey’s Venus and Phong Le’s Stop the Vietnam War (A Solo Musical Comedy); and Sunday afternoon is Stephen Ruffin and Filipe Valle Costa’s Mr. Cool.
Atlanta artist Aineki Traverso makes her Wolfgang Gallery debut with this solo exhibition of works that tether historical, mythological and personal narratives through painting and installation. Traverso has exhibited at Swan Coach House Gallery, Johnson Lowe Gallery and Whitespace Gallery. Check out some of her work on Instagram. The show opens with a reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 14.
